More specifically, Giorgos Liagas confessed that “I have said before that I am a child of divorced parents and badly divorced parents. In the early years I stayed with my mother and they separated with a big conflict. But the point is that for too many years my mother disappeared from my life. I don’t want to say under what circumstances, for what reason and so on. These are personal matters and it doesn’t matter. That in itself is a very big wound that I don’t know if it ever closes. So when a mother or a father, especially the mother, leaves a child’s life violently for many years and at some point you are called, because there is no other way, to separate from your man, you consider it a great failure on the one hand and on the other hand you think double, triple, quadruple until you make the final decision.”
“When, well, that changes, you carry a burden that my children may receive the separation as their father abandoning them, just as I may have a parent violently leave my life. Which was a joint decision, a calm and sweet separation from Faye. So I faced it very, very hard. I also got help, I went to a doctor. It was not an easy period for me. It was a very difficult period.”
“On the other hand, the fact that I had a bad time as a child, for me it goes without saying that I try to be as close to my children as possible. I’m not talking materially but mainly in terms of having quality time to do things together.
