The director of this ultra-conservative newspaper, Mario Sechi, justified his choice in an editorial in which he stated: “In the society of weak thinking, we have rewarded strong ideas. In the confusion of roles, we have placed emphasis on ‘homo’, the human being. In the overflow of diversity, we have disrupted gender.”
“We have chosen Meloni as man of the year because, first of all, he annulled the war of the sexes by winning it, thinking differently, being divergent, overcoming the arrogance of men and the defeatism of women. He didn’t break the glass ceiling, he dissolved it,” adds Sechi.

Another newspaper, il Secolo D’Italia, stated that “I did not understand that decision to call her a man” because “when a woman is erased there is always something out of place.”
“Because to be good, strong, decision-makers, it is not necessary to be men. Women also know and can fight. Women also know and can compete with male leaders. Women also know and can represent the interests of the national community beyond the war of the sexes,” responds Il Secolo d’Italia.

This month, Giorgia Meloni closed the annual party of her party, Brothers of Italy (FdI), boasting the strength of her governing coalition ahead of the European elections in June 2024.
“The right-wing government guided by FdI will have Italy with its head held high, its shoes full of mud and its hands clean,” Meloni warned during the speech of regarding 70 minutes with which he closed “Atreju”, the annual party of his formation.
The first woman to govern Italy described the elections to the European Parliament as a “memorable date with history” and criticized the “tactical speculations” of the press regarding the coalitions that will be formed in Brussels and their effect on the stability of Rome.
This is because each of the Government parties are part of different European groups: Meloni to the Group of Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), Matteo Salvini’s League to the Identity and Democracy Party (ID) and Forza Italia to the European People’s Party (EPP). ).
Meloni boasted regarding his management following a year in power, promised “immediate evictions” from occupied properties and announced that “soon” the “rental womb” will be an “internationally punishable” crime in Italy because, he stressed, “children are not a business”.
The prime minister, who in 2024 must preside over the G7, also insisted on her intention to continue “with her allies alongside the Ukrainian people who are fighting to defend themselves from a Russia nostalgic for Soviet imperialism.”
