The series follows a 30-year-old single mother, Georgia Miller, and her two children, Ginny, 15, and Austin, 9. After a series of dramatic events that forced the family to move for more than ten years, Georgia decides to settle in New England with her children. The first season mostly explored the cracks in Ginny’s relationship with her secret mother. But the series also tackled issues such as race, self-harm, sexual consent and body image.
Alongside hit Netflix series like Bridgerton season 2, Love is Blind and its spin-off The Ultimatum, the first season was a big hit with viewers. Over 52 million households watched the series in its first 28 days. But when will we see season 2 of Ginny and Georgia?
When will Ginny and Georgia Season 2 hit Netflix?
Netflix officially confirmed on April 19, 2021 that season 2 of Ginny and Georgia will take place. However, filming didn’t begin until November 2021 and is still ongoing as of March 2022, so it’s unclear when the series will be released, but it seems likely to be late 2022.
In October 2021, the series’ Instagram page wrote, “As we prepare to film Season 2, let’s take a look back at the filming of the Season 1 premiere episode.”
And in March 2022, the show’s Instagram shared, “Season 2 is being filmed right now thanks to all of you who watched.”
Showrunner and Executive Producer, Debra J Fisher in a statement: “We are so grateful for the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny & Georgia.
“We are especially grateful to Brianne (Howey) and Toni (Gentry), who set the bar high every step of the way. We look forward to returning to Wellsbury for the second season.”
Who are the returning cast members for season 2 of Ginny and Georgia?
In an interview with ELLE magazine, Ginny actress Toni Gentry said of Season 2, “I want to see Ginny get down and dirty. I want to see her transform into Georgia a bit. I want to see her really dig in and show that naughtiness that I know she has. It would be really fun to explore.”
She added to Seventeen last year: “For season 2 the stakes are much higher – obviously – than season 1. So I think fans are going to be treated to a wonderful tension, a rise in power and the revelation of some interesting characters. I can’t say much right now, but I can’t wait for us to resume filming, which is very, very soon. I’m really ready. I miss all my cast mates.”
And when Georgia actress Brianne Howey was asked if a mother-daughter reunion was planned for Season 2, she replied, “Of course they can. I need them to, yes.”
Scott Porter, who plays Mayor Paul, hinted that his character might be more complex than it looks. He told Hollywood Life, “As far as Mayor Paul, I’ve had questions since day one about his background because of the things he says on the show. He went to Brown.
“He had an Ivy League education, then he gave it all up to travel abroad, go on donkey rides, teach English and gain a sense of the world that’s far different than a lot of people who try to forge a fast path to politics. But then, when he returned to the United States, he magically succeeded. What motivates a person like him? He has many facets, but he is very direct and focused. What made it so? I can’t wait to find out more about his family and his origins.”
What will Ginny and Georgia season 2 be about?
Season 1 ended with Ginny and Austin fleeing Wellsbury on a motorbike after the private detective hired by Kenny’s ex-wife ambushed Ginny at the Blue Farm Café and told her her mother was a killer. . And Toni Gentry hinted that Ginny would follow her father, Zion, in Season 2.
Toni said: “When she’s packing, she grabs the book that Sion gives her, and if you’ve been paying attention when Sion comes in and gives her the book, you know he’s included an address.
“There’s this secret coded message in there, and she finds out it’s the address of her apartment in Boston. So I think it’s pretty reasonable to assume that Ginny might be heading for Zion.”
Meanwhile, Austin still hasn’t forgiven Georgia for not sending the letters he wrote to her father. Her relationship with her mother is therefore on the rocks, which sets the stage for her father’s return in season 2. Meanwhile, Georgia had no idea her children were gone as she was busy celebrating her father’s re-election. fiancé, Mayor Paul. Will she go looking for them? Or will they come back on their own?
Georgia actress Brianne Howey shared her thoughts on Season 2. She said, “Ginny is very savvy. She’s learned a lot from Georgia, and Ginny has her own plan too.
“They’re not in the best place, but they’ve been through so much together. And we see it a little in the flashbacks, nothing can take that foundation away from them. Especially since even before Austin, there was really only Ginny and Georgia and they were so young. They had nothing. Georgia had no money, she had no resources or tools.”
Hinting at what’s to come in the next series, she added, “Everyone resonates where we want them to. Everyone is super well integrated into the brand and it touches and lands in the same places. It gets dark.
“[Mais c’est aussi] very charming and funny. And then there are some really sweet moments.”
There’s also the issue of Max, Ginny’s friend, who was furious with Ginny for sleeping with her twin, Marcus, and lying about it. This led to MANG’s split – something else we’re sure to see develop in Season 2.
Season 2 is expected to pick up where it left off, with Ginny and Austin on the road.
How many episodes of season 2 of Ginny and Georgia?
Like season 1, season 2 of Ginny and Georgia is expected to consist of ten episodes. Each episode will be around 60 minutes long, and as per Netflix tradition, all episodes should be available on the release date.
In the meantime, you can watch the first season, which landed on Netflix in February 2021.
Where is Ginny and Georgia filmed?
The series is set in the fictional town of Wellsbury, Massachusetts, but Ginny and Georgia was actually filmed in Toronto and Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. Interiors for the series, such as the interior of Georgia’s stunning home and the mayor’s office, were filmed at TriBro Studios in Toronto, Canada. Wellsbury High School is also located in Toronto.

The waterfront town of Cobourg dates back to 1798 and is home to several locations that appear in Ginny & Georgia. These include Audrey’s In Town Fashions, the former El Camino restaurant (aka Blue Farm Café), and the town hall, Victoria Hall (which becomes the Wellsbury Arts Center in the series). The City of Cobourg Twitter account confirmed that filming for Ginny and Georgia was scheduled to take place April 18-22, 2022 at Victoria Hall.
