Gims responds to the controversy over the Egyptian pyramids with a new song, “Hernan Cortès”

True conspiracy theory or cleverly thought out publicity stunt? Difficult to say more, even if the indices lean towards the first option. French artist Gims released a new song this Thursday evening, titled “Hernan Cortès”, just days following causing a bad buzz by publicly claiming that the Egyptian pyramids served as antennas to provide electricity.

On the cover of the title broadcast on YouTube, we can see the three pyramids and their very golden peaks – which served as arguments for the singer since gold is a conductor of electricity. But had the artist skilfully prepared his shot? Not really if you listen to his single, with its very rap sound, until the end. The artist slipped in the reactions of the media to his polemical remarks at the very end. Evidence that the single was completed extremely recently.

“Everyone has their own speech”

We then hear several unrecognizable journalists criticize the singer – “On a conspiratorial slippage of a personality and not just any personality, it’s Gims”, “Gims who, it must be said, has more or less slipped” – just before the title stops, with no response from the singer behind.

In addition to this wink, we can find several well-felt tackles that echo the controversy. “I say nothing more, you like to take my words out of context too much”, launches the singer following having rapped: “the truth: everyone has their own speech” or even “we all run to the opposite despite warning signs”.
