Gilgit-Baltistan’s biggest ever bid for Astor Markhor hunting

In Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) hunting licenses for Astore Markhor have been issued. A hunting license was obtained by giving a huge bid of 186 thousand dollars i.e. 5 crore 17 lakh 8 thousand rupees for only one hunt of Astor Markhor.

In the auction for the issuance of permits for hunting wild animals organized by the Department of Forests and Wildlife under the trophy hunting program in Gilgit-Baltistan, the outfitter company fetched 186 thousand dollars for just one hunt of Astor Markhor. In other words, the hunting license was obtained by giving a big bid of 5 crore 17 lakh 8 thousand rupees.

Local and domestic and foreign outfitters participated in the auction of licenses for the “Trophy Hunting Program”, a special scheme for hunting wild animals.

4 separate hunts at 4 different locations in GB allocated for the year 2023-24 under trophy hunting scheme were offered for hunting permits for hunting of Astor Markhor.

Like last year, this time too, the largest ever bid for hunting of Astor Markhor in Kargah, Nupora, Bassin Conservation Area of ​​Gilgit was held.

In the auction, the outfitter company “Shikar Safari” who bid 1 lakh 86 thousand dollars (Rs. 5 crore 17 lakh 8 thousand) was awarded the right to hunt one number of Astor Markhor in Kargah, Nowpora, Bassin Conservation Area.

At 3 other locations in GB, licenses were also issued to the highest bidders for the hunting of Astor Markhor.

Last year, Mehran Safari got a permit for Markhor hunting for one hundred and sixty-five thousand dollars.
