Dinosaurs appeared in the downtown of Hong Kong and Kowloon, showing their teeth and claws. Could it be that a “multiverse” appeared in the Jurassic? Two 1:1-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus are actually mobile dinosaurs. Under the supervision of a team of paleontologists, they were reconstructed using the latest scientific knowledge, specially designed, produced and exhibited. The head, eyes and tail of the mobile dinosaur will move and come to life. One of the team members, Nils Knötschke, specially brought one of the 65-million-year-old tyrannosaur tooth fossils (circle diagram) that was used as a reference when making the motorized tyrannosaurus rex for the media to enjoy.
“Summer Pop-Up: Mobile Dinosaurs Exhibition” is co-organized by Lingxian Charity Foundation and Wharf’s Harbour City and Times Square. The mobile Tyrannosaurus Rex will be exhibited at Harbour City’s “Ocean View” from today to July 17; Stegosaurus is on display at Times Square’s “Open Air Plaza” from now until July 10, and the public can visit for free.
The mall also holds various dinosaur-themed activities. Citizens can participate in and get souvenirs by donating a designated amount. All proceeds from the activities will be donated to the Leading Talents Charity Fund. In addition, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the Leader Charitable Foundation and the LCSD jointly organized an exhibition of dinosaur fossil specimens titled “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Eight Majors: Finding the Dragon” in July. Father Chen, who has two sons, said that the epidemic has eased and he is happy to have large-scale activities. He thinks that the mobile dinosaurs are vivid enough. He also points out that the 5-year-old boy is very excited, and the younger son is a little scared. Some dinosaur fans believe that the gloomy weather near the port of Japan makes the landscape more attractive and more in line with the public’s impression of the Jurassic era.
Ling Yuanting, executive director of Wharf Properties, pointed out that with the easing of the epidemic and the distribution of a new round of consumer coupons, now is the right time to hold large-scale events and exhibitions for family members to go out and have fun. She also revealed that the number of people in Harbour City in May increased by 5% compared with the same period last year, which has returned to the level before the fifth wave of the epidemic.
