Yesterday, May 20, was World Bee Day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the need for conservation of endangered species of bees for the balance of the earth.
The picture of the giant bee was painted on the playground of Hebden Royd Primary School. The picture was drawn using paint used to mark lines on football pitches. The line is intended to inspire the next generation to protect the endangered Bumble Bee species of bees as a result of the constant increase in global temperature. Uncontrolled application of pesticides and habitat degradation threaten the survival of bees. This is an attempt by parents Dave Martin and Jamie Wardley. This different effort coincides with World Bee Day. The children also set up a nursery for wild flowers behind the school for bee pollination. May 20 has been celebrated as Bee Day every year since 2017. Slovenia, also known as the Land of Good Bee Keepers, put the idea before the UN. World Bee Day is celebrated on the birthday of Anton Jansa, known as the pioneer of beekeeping. This day is celebrated in Slovenia in a fun way. Breakfast will consist of honey-sprinkled cornflakes or pancakes, home-grown beeswax flowers, and donations to beekeeping organizations. Slovenes celebrate this day by enjoying the pollination of queen bees, which live for one to five years, and worker bees, which live for only three to 55 days.
