In the video, Wang Qingru and his colleagues showed a surprised expression following discovering a large wild oarfish that reached regarding 11 meters in size. The hairtail in the video resembles a regular hairtail in shape and color.

The fish in question is an oarfish. This fish lives in water at depths of regarding 650 feet to 3300 feet (regarding 198 m to 1006 m). When an abnormal sign such as shaking the ground is felt, it is first detected from the seabed and rises to the sea level, but it is known that it is rare to actually see it.

“I’ve been diving for 15 years, but I’ve never seen such a huge oarfish,” Wang told Newsweek. At the same time, he said, “It doesn’t seem that the mountain oarfish has risen to the surface due to the earthquake.”
