Giancarlo Stanton hit 350th career home run

NEW YORK — Giancarlo Stanton hit his 350th career home run Wednesday night, becoming the seventh-fastest player to reach that milestone in games played.

Stanton hit a two-run shot in the first inning off the Orioles’ Tyler Wells at Yankee Stadium, ending a 14-game homer streak for the Bombers slugger.

It was the third home run of the season for Stanton, who had last hit the ball on April 9 once morest the Red Sox.

Stanton’s 350th home run came in his 1,341st game. Mark McGwire was the first to reach that number of home runs in terms of games played, doing so in his 1,280th game on June 2, 1997.

The other players who reached 350 homers faster than Stanton were Juan Gonzalez (1,298), Alex Rodriguez (1,301), Harmon Killebrew (1,319), Albert Pujols (1,320) and Babe Ruth (1,329).

Stanton, A-Rod and Ruth pulled it off while wearing a Yankees uniform.
