GHG premium for e-cars: the deadline is about to expire

EV owners need to hurry if they still want to claim their 2022 GHG premium. According to e-mobilio, the leading consulting and service platform for electric mobility, the application should be submitted by February 12 in order to get the money safely. The Munich startup guarantees 575 euros for the combined GHG quota for 2022 and 2023. All owners of battery electric cars are eligible.

“It is unfortunate that every second owner of an e-car has still not applied for a GHG premium,” says Ralph Missy, co-founder and managing director of e-mobilio. “The owners of such vehicles are giving away hard cash as a result.” The GHG quota was introduced by the federal government so that mineral oil companies avoid greenhouse gases, for example by adding biofuel. If they miss their CO2 targets, they have to buy corresponding quotas from the owners of environmentally friendly electric vehicles. Ralph Missy: “The price for this GHG quota will This is redefined every year using a complicated key. For the past year there is 325 euros per electric car, in 2023 it is 250 euros.”

The application for the GHG premium can be submitted online, for example on the e-mobilio website. After the Federal Environment Agency has checked it, which can currently take two to three months, the money is then paid out. Among the numerous service providers who offer such a bonus, there are also many dubious offers, as the Stiftung Warentest found out. (Finanztest 10/2022) “Our website, which we operate together with “co2.auto”, is one of the 14 offers recommended by Stiftung Warentest. Of the 36 GHG quota trading service providers evaluated, “co2.auto” is the only one that has no deficiencies in its data protection declaration,” says Ralph Missy.

“e-mobilio offers car dealerships, vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators the digital e-buyer’s guide for electric vehicles. This gives buyers and drivers of e-cars comprehensive advice, for example on topics such as charging cards, wall boxes and photovoltaic systems. In Germany, the platform is already being used by over 350 car dealers and thus at over 1,500 locations. (awm)
