Books – Ahmed Abdel Moneim:
Ghada Wali, a graphic designer, responded to the accusations made by a Russian artist of using his designs in an campaign for a soda water company, without obtaining his permission.
“Wally” said, in a video broadcast live on her official page on the social networking site “Facebook”: “Last year I had a major crisis, and I did not respond at that time because I was in trouble due to childbirth and I might not respond.”
And she continued: “I was subjected to electronic bullying, which greatly affected my psyche and also my profession,” explaining that this is happening for the second time, which represents a “nightmare” for her, saying: “I cannot see this once more.”
She explained, “Since I got my master’s degree from Italy, my goal in life is how to make design revive the Egyptian heritage, and this is not the first project I’ve done that talks regarding the same idea.”
And she continued: “No one says an accusation that we believe without evidence, noting that the campaign for the carbonated water company was from 2018, and these drawings were drawn by hands and are available on the Internet, and this was the first time this company quotes an Egyptian artist.”
She said, “Because the campaign was so successful, the company asked to hold a competition at the College of Applied Arts with students with the same idea that they would revive an Egyptian design, and this was the most important need in my life that my goal would be achieved.”
She indicated that she respects all artists inside and outside Egypt and respects the Egyptian law and judiciary because it is a fair judiciary.
