Getting started with the OnePlus 10 Pro: the stuff of a real pro?

We took the OnePlus 10 Pro in hand at MWC 2022. We give you some impressions of the smartphone before its launch in Europe in the coming weeks.

the OnePlus 10 Pro has been presented last January, but it was long overdue for Europe. No worries, it will land by the end of March and it is the boss of the brand Pete Lau who affirms it. It was therefore quite logical to see the manufacturer exhibiting its latest flagship model at the MWC 2022 from Barcelona. It is thanks to this that we have taken it in hand briefly in order to share with you our first impressions.

Surprisingly, the first thing you notice with the OnePlus 10 Pro is not necessarily its rear photo module. Don’t get me wrong, the latter is really very visible and imposing, clearly reminiscent of hotplates. This is not necessarily a criticism, we will come back to it.

Before that, I wanted to point out that the OnePlus 10 Pro is surprisingly light in the hand. However, with a height of 163 mm – barely less than a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – we might expect a certain heaviness. The scale also displays 200.5 grams, which is not nothing. But the smartphone manages to distribute this weight well to make us forget it quickly.

Attention, this impression will have to be verified on a complete test with real daily use. Nevertheless, the first seconds are attractive. This impression is reinforced by the pleasing treatment on the back – at least on the colorways on display at MWC 2022. There’s a brushed and sanded effect – but without being gritty or rough – which I appreciated. Now hopefully the phone won’t be as flimsy as it sounds a video by JerryRigEverything.

Hasselblad in the spotlight on the OnePlus 10 Pro

Now back to the photo module. This is inspired by Galaxy S21 Ultra, but the integration is a tad less refined and it’s probably intentional. The OnePlus 10 Pro gives the impression of really assuming this very visible block, which stands out well from the rest of the rear surface.

A way no doubt to highlight the partnership with Hasselblad. The name of the photo specialist also appears on the module.

The OnePlus 10 Pro offers three rear photo sensors that promise very rich color renderings to flatter the retina. Aficionados will even be able to try 12-bit RAW for more nuances in tones or RAW+ mode which provides various colorimetric presets designed by professional photographers.

The promises on quality and the various functions related to photo and video are not lacking around this device. We will see during our test of the OnePlus 10 Pro if it is up to it.

Moreover, let’s mention a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with an adaptive 120 Hz mode, a 5000 mAh battery benefiting from 80 W fast charging and wired charging up to 50 W. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 takes care of bringing a big punch while managing the connectivity 5G.

The OnePlus 10 Pro therefore has what it takes on paper to be considered a real pro in several aspects. It remains only to confirm it with a real test.

OnePlus 10 Pro price and release date in Europe

We just know that the OnePlus 10 Pro arrives in Europe before the end of March, the precise date is not yet known. As for the price, it varies in China depending on the configuration (8 or 12 GB of RAM, 128 to 256 GB of storage). The prices thus range from around 660 euros excluding tax to around 750 euros excluding tax.

The price in France will likely be significantly higher, once taxes are applied. The 1000 euro bar for the most sophisticated version of the OnePlus 10 Pro might be close to, or even exceeded.

At MWC 2022, OnePlus confirms its attachment to OxygenOS (and in particular to the future OxygenOS 13) despite the software rapprochement with Oppo’s interface, ColorOS.
