Las Vegas (KSNV)—

A solar eclipse is coming and Las Vegas-Clark County Libraries are making sure everyone will be able to safely view it.

The library district recently announced that they would be handing out free Solar Eclipse activity bags through Saturday, October 14, while supplies last, across all county libraries. It will include crafts, activity pages, and a pair of solar sunglasses that will help view the eclipse safely.

The 2023 annular solar eclipse is set to cross North, Central, and South America on Saturday, October 14, with visibility expected in parts of the United States, Mexico, and many countries in South and Central America.

A partial eclipse is expected to be seen in Las Vegas starting at around 8 a.m. with the deepest point of the eclipse peaking at around 9:26 a.m.

Some of the best viewing spots in Nevada include Ely, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, and Elko.

The Red Cross advises those planning to drive to a viewing location to check the weather forecast, traffic reports, and road conditions beforehand and urges every car to keep an emergency kit.

Cities like Kerrville, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico will be in the eclipse path and are expected to be fully visible there.
