THE WORLD of Indonesian cinema never stops releasing horror genre films, one of which will be shown on the big screen is the mystery-horror film, Tebusan Sin. This is a film made by director Yosep Anggi Noen with the production house Palari Films.

Interestingly, in this film, Anggi Noen involves a Japanese actor, Shogen. He will compete acting with a number of Indonesian stars such as Happy Salma, Putri Marino and Lakshmi Notokusumo. To find out more about who Shogen is, here is the information.

Quoting from IMDb, Shogen is an actor born in 1978. He has been in the world of film for around 20 years with his first film being an animated film entitled Tori which was released in 2004. During around 20 years of work, Shogen has starred in more than 70 films and series. television.

Shogen’s First Indonesian Film Ransom

At the press conference for the film Tebusan Sin, Shogen revealed that this was his first Indonesian film. Having known Anggi Noen long before the film Tebusan Sin, Shogen has long been interested in working with Anggi Noen.

“Actually, I have acted twice in films produced in Indonesia, but this film is the first to be released,” said Shogen in Jakarta, Wednesday (9/10).

He first met Anggi Noen in Okinawa, Japan, in 2015. At that time he met Anggi Noen at the Okinawa Film Festival.

“The next meeting took place at the Busan Film Festival, South Korea. Since then we have continued to talk a lot about our respective films and we have ideas about when we can make a film together, I didn’t expect it to happen this quickly,” he said.

Playing Tetsuya

In the film Ransom, Shogen plays Tetsuya. This character is told by a researcher from Japan who lives in Indonesia. Tetsuya is involved in a mission to search for Wening (Happy Salma), a mother who is grieving the loss of her daughter, Nirmala (Keiko Ananta). He was also involved in acting with Tirta (Putri Marino) who also helped Wening look for her child.

Meanwhile, Ransom is a mystery-horror film made by director Yosep Anggi Noen. This film presents the story of a mother looking for her child who was lost due to an accident in a river.

Anggi creates a tense, realistic horror mystery atmosphere wrapped in strong drama. Presenting a suburban setting, Anggi uses a horror approach that not only depicts the form of demons but also the complex pressures of life.

It feels special, Ransom is a film that is also supported by the South Korean production studio, Showbox, which produced Exhuma. The film will be shown in cinemas on October 17 2024. (M-3)
