The last weekend of October promises to be windy and rainy. Gusts of up to 75 km/h, or even more in a heavy downpour, are expected on Saturday evening, warns the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM).
On Saturday followingnoon, there will be many cloudy areas in the Ardennes where they may let out a small shower. The rest of the country will benefit from generally dry weather, with sunny spells.
It will be between 9 and 10°C on the eastern heights and 14 to 15°C in the plains, under a moderate to sometimes quite strong wind, with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h possibly blowing at the end of the day.
The sky will become cloudy on Saturday evening from the south, and rain will fall across Belgium, certainly preventing amateur astronomers from observing the partial lunar eclipse, which should begin around 8:00 p.m. and end around midnight.
The southeast will remain wet the longest; in the rest of the country, the weather will become more variable, with dry periods but also localized showers which can be intense. A clap of thunder may ring out. The wind will strengthen further, with gusts of 65 to 75 km/h. It might even blow at 80 km/h, or even more, in a heavy downpour, warns the IRM. The minimums will oscillate between 8 and 13°C.
The weekend will end on Sunday with very changeable weather and possibly intense showers. Strong squalls might still occur, slightly less strong than Saturday evening with gusts of 55 to 65 km/h expected. It will be between 10 and 16°C.
The wind will further weaken somewhat during the night from Sunday to Monday, although it will remain intense, with gusts around 40 to 50 km/h.
The last week of the autumn holidays (All Saints’ Day) will begin on Monday under clouds and rain, with 10 to 16°C forecast.
