The 10 campers of the second season of Get me out of here! have already been chosen for filming which will begin at the end of June in a country other than Costa Rica.
The producer and co-host of the reality show, Jean-Philippe Dion, confirmed this to the QMI Agency on Monday, the day following the grand finale having crowned Andréanne A. Malette as queen of the jungle.
“Everyone has tried their kit. Surprisingly, we had a lot of calls from people who wanted to do season 2. We have a great horizon of completely different personalities,” said Jean-Philippe, who is more than satisfied with the results of the first version. “It is beyond our expectations!” he said of the confirmed average of 1.6 million viewers watching each episode, according to Numeris figures as of April 30.
The Productions Déferlantes team must start from a “blank page”, as Get me out of here! change of destination for the second season.
“We are going to a place where they have never received filming. We will have a large wasteland where we will have to build our 13 large platforms for the challenges. The containers left on a ship more than a month ago and in two weeks people are leaving to put it all together.”
Solidarity, mutual aid and benevolence are values that Get me out of here! puts forward, in addition to courage and resilience. “There is an even greater layer of humanity in Quebec, I find. As a producer, it’s the kind of show that I feel like doing. I need to give that depth to the shows I do, to feel that it’s not just entertainment, that there’s something useful when people talk regarding each other. The public can identify,” said Jean-Philippe.
There is also the whole humorous dimension that makes the difference to Get me out of here!. We immediately think of Nathalie Simard, who was very funny and whom Quebecers have rediscovered.
And as for the elimination challenges, they were also fun to give everyone the same chance to succeed.

traumatized
Jean-Philippe laughs, pointing out “having been traumatized every minute” during his experience in the jungle. “I don’t get thrown off easily, but what the campers had to do as challenges, that was exactly the tricky area for me. I’m dismissive, so what they had to eat… Sports, physical, height challenges. The accumulation of all my fears was what the campers had to face!”
Awaiting renewal of The voice and of true nature
Jean-Philippe Dion, whose company, Productions Déferlantes, also produces Sweety salty (starting May 22) and Masked singers (filming for the third season begins on Thursday), is still awaiting the renewal of its show true nature for a sixth season and, above all, for the tenth season of The voice. “It’s extremely late” to get an answer from TVA, he admitted, especially since the coaches have to free up their schedule for recordings and live broadcasts, those who have shows and various projects.
