Gernot Murko retires: Lawyers get new president – Kleine Zeitung

There are people whose name has almost merged with their office. Gernot Murko, President of the Bar Association, falls into this category. The Klagenfurt lawyer has headed the self-governing body for 18 years, and was Vice President for three years before that, when Hans Gradischnig still held the (honorary) office. He is now no longer standing for election. “The triple burden in the chamber, as a professor at the University of Graz and in my actual job in the law firm are leaving their mark,” says the 58-year-old. The most likely successor is the current Vice President Bernhard Fink – he is the only candidate standing for election at the plenary meeting on October 8th.
