Germany Profile – FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™

This will be Germany’s 20th participation in the FIFA World Cup, becoming only the second team, following Brazil, to reach 20 participation in the tournament. The last time they didn’t participate in a World Cup was in 1950 – since then they’ve progressed out of the first round at every edition except in 2018 when they finished bottom of the group stage.

Anecdotes and statistics

● Germany have reached the semi-finals in four of their five World Cup appearances this century, the only exception being 2018. That’s more than any other country in that period.

● Thomas Müller has scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists in 16 FIFA World Cup matches – both more than any player since his debut in 2010. Only Miroslav Klose (16), Gerd Müller (14) and Jurgen Klinsmann (11) have scored for Germany in finals more than Müller, while since 1966 only Pierre Littbarski (7) has more assists for Germany.
