Germany and India: Partners in Shaping a Better Future Through Shared Values

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Achim Burkart, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, emphasized the immense value that Germany places on its partnership with India, highlighting that both nations, as democracies that prioritize human dignity, play a pivotal role in shaping a more promising future rooted in common values.

Burkart made these remarks during a celebratory event organized by the Goethe-Zentrum at the luxurious Hotel Hyatt Regency in Thiruvananthapuram, commemorating the German Day of Unity and the significant 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall this past Sunday. Notable attendees included German Honorary Consul Syed Ibrahim and G Vijayaraghavan, the founder and CEO of Technopark.

He pointed out that the German constitution explicitly states, “Human dignity is inviolable,” underscoring the relevance of this principle in an increasingly discordant world. Furthermore, he acknowledged India’s rising stature and influence on the international stage, while asserting that although nations may not see eye to eye on every matter, substantial and meaningful partnerships can still be cultivated, profoundly affecting the trajectory of the future.

“India and Germany together can achieve so many things. Let’s continue to navigate this shared journey,” Burkart stated. He acknowledged that while the challenges confronting humanity can seem daunting, there is no reason to lose hope. He urged that democracies like Germany and India have the potential to harness their collective influence to foster a brighter and better world.

“What unites many countries in this world is the fact that a vast majority desires the same fundamental aspirations – the safety, dignity, and freedom for their children,” he remarked passionately.
