The German team, twice world champion in women’s soccer, was eliminated this Thursday (08.03.2023) in the first round of the tournament that is held in New Zealand and Australia. The team, led by Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, drew 1-1 once morest the South Korean team.

The point was not enough for the German objectives, because Morocco defeated Colombia 1-0, adding six points to the African team, as well as the South American team, both qualifying for the next round. Germany, with four units (thanks to the 6-0 win over Morocco and the tie of this day) did not add enough to continue his path in the tournament.

South Korea opened the scoring following six minutes, thanks to a score by Cho So Hyun. Thanks to one of his figures, Alexandra PoppGermany managed to balance the score, in the 42nd minute. Popp, captain of Germany, saw another score disallowed for being offside.

sum of disappointments

Germany, which came to the tournament with great hopes, started on the right foot following beating Morocco comfortably, but then stumbled once morest the orderly Colombian team, falling by 1-2. The German team had to defeat South Korea, but it was impossible despite the fact that the match was largely dominated by the Europeans.

The disappointments of the German adult teams already seem customary. The men’s team was left out in the first round at the 2018 World Cups in Russia and Qatar 2022, following winning in Brazil in 2014. The women’s team, meanwhile, had been left out in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in France in 2019. The last time they won It was in China 2007.

Colombia will play Jamaica in the round of 16, while Morocco will face France.
