It’s over with the snow: the coming days will be dry across the board and rising temperatures will melt the white.
An air mass boundary has caused chaos in numerous regions in recent days. Snow, freezing rain and slippery conditions caused long traffic jams on motorways, accidents and flight cancellations at several German airports.
After the storm, Hoch “Corvin” is now bringing widespread dry winter weather to Germany. It can get really cold, especially at night. Severe frost is threatening in some regions.
But at the weekend the weather situation changes and it becomes milder. A trend that might push temperatures into double digits in the coming week.

High “Corvin” brings dry winter weather to Germany from the Atlantic – with some freezing cold nights.
But towards next week the temperatures will rise noticeably.
The days in detail:
Further snow and sleet showers are possible in the far northeast on Friday. Otherwise widespread dry and partly cloudy.
The maximum temperature is between minus 3 degrees in the eastern low mountain ranges and plus 5 degrees on the North Sea islands.
On Saturday night there might be severe night frost down to double-digit minus levels in some areas. The lowest temperatures are shown here in dark blue.
On Saturday the sun will shine widely, but in the far north and northeast it will be more cloudy. It can snow once more here.
Temperatures in the northern half rise above freezing throughout the day, but it remains frosty in the low mountain ranges and on the edge of the Alps.
On Sunday night it will be icy cold once more for many regions – with temperatures down to -8 degrees.
On Sunday there will be a widespread mix of sun and clouds. Only on the North Sea is there occasional rain or sleet.
Temperatures range between 0 and 8 degrees, with significantly higher temperatures in the northwest and extreme southwest.
The mild trend continues at the start of the week: On Monday night, temperatures only fall below 0 degrees in the south and southeast.
Then on Monday it was warmer. In the west and around Freiburg, values can even reach double-digit levels. Temperatures of up to 14 degrees should be possible by the middle of the week.
The mild air also causes isolated thunderstorms, shown here in red – and a lot of rain until Wednesday.
You can see which regions can expect icy nights and where temperatures will soon rise well above freezing point in the weather maps here or in the text above.
