Tesla has received the long-awaited immission control approval for its Gigafactory in Grünheide near Berlin. Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke said at a press conference in Potsdam on Friday that he is happy to announce that the approval notice was handed over to Tesla today. In any case, this happened symbolically in a meeting with the task force made up of representatives of the state government and the company. The approval covers 600 pages and provides for a number of conditions. If these are met and acceptance has taken place, the production of electric cars in Grünheide can begin.

These would make up 80 pages of the notice, but were neither particularly large nor unusual. If Tesla has demonstrated compliance, the first car that can be sold can roll off the assembly line.

Unlike Prime Minister Woidke and Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach, who was also present, he had never had contact with Tesla boss Elon Musk, Vogel explained when asked. The minister left the explanation of the requirements that the company must meet before producing salable cars to a department head from the environmental agency – as well as the news that Tesla plans to get this final step over with within two weeks. This fits information from the beginning of this week, according to the one before the end of March Event planned with the handover of the first 30 Model Y from Grünheide to customers is.

Gigafactory acceptance planned in 2 weeks

Before the expected acceptance, Tesla must prove, for example, that prescribed devices for measuring air quality are installed, said the official from the state environmental agency. In some cases, the company also has to provide evidence, such as a concept for preventing accidents, regarding the materials used or structural tests. The most important point is the measuring systems for monitoring. Once everything has been approved, the factory can be put into operation. Minister Vogel said that the 2-week target was what the company had set itself. But he is sure that it will do it at Tesla speed.
