General Eberhard Zörn, Inspector General of the German Defense Ministry, warned the West once morest underestimating Moscow’s military might, saying that Russia had the ability to open a second front if it chose to do so.
“Perhaps the bulk of the Russian ground forces are mortgaged in Ukraine at the moment, but nevertheless, we should not underestimate the ability of the Russian ground forces to open a second battle front,” Tzorn said. He added that apart from the army, Russia also had a naval and air force at its disposal.
He stressed, “Most of the Russian naval forces have not yet been deployed in the war on Ukraine, and the Russian Air Force still possesses significant capabilities as well, which poses a threat to NATO as well.”
Speaking before the start of the Ukrainian offensive in the south, Tzorn noted that Russia still has a large reserve force.
“As far as its military is concerned, Russia is very capable of expanding the conflict regionally,” he said. That it would be unreasonable for Russia to do something different.”
Referring to the military situation in Ukraine, Zorn said that the dynamic of Russia’s offensive has slowed down, but Moscow is still moving forward steadily.
He also noted that Russia is not regarding to run out of ammunition any time soon.
