That was it for the German national team at the World Cup in Qatar. The 4:2 once morest Costa Rica is not enough, Spain doesn’t help. The fans react with ridicule and scorn.

National coach Hansi Flick fled in a hurry from the scene of the next World Cup disaster, leaving his players stunned. Four years following the historical preliminary round defeat in Russia, German football is already on the ground once more.

After another unsuccessful preliminary round, the German players who had come here with dreams of the title flew back to Germany, where restless Advent days with critical questions regarding the future awaited all the players.

Too much politics, too little football

Not only because of the sporting performance, but also because of all the background noise that this World Cup produced. Political messages determined the World Cup as well as boycott calls. This is now falling back on the team, as the comments on social media relentlessly show.

In addition to political statements, coach Hansi Flick also has to take a lot. There was great hope that everything would change for the better with Joachim Löw’s resignation. That was not the case. Many fans also blamed Flick’s personnel decisions.
