Aurubis, a German producer of copper, gold, silver, nickel and other metals, said Tuesday that a major metals scam cost it 185 million euros.
Earlier this month, the company also active in Belgium withdrew its financial guidance for this year following seeing significant changes in metal inventories and shipments at its recycling business. She assumed she was the target of criminal activity and contacted police.
Aurubis announced on Tuesday that the financial impact amounted to some 185 million euros. The copper producer estimates that insurers will intervene for around 30 million euros and hopes to be able to recover part of the losses.
In June, Aurubis indicated that it had been the victim of the theft of around 20 million euros in metal products over several years. Searches were carried out at the company’s sites in Germany and suspects were arrested.
