German cinema release of »BELLE« is set – Anime2You

The German publisher KSM Anime announced today that the anime film »BELLE« (jap.: »Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime«) will be shown in cinemas in Germany and Austria from June 9, 2022 with German soundtrack. Further details are not yet available.

»BELLE« was created under the direction of director Mamoru Hosoda (»Mirai: The Girl from the Future«) at Studio Chizu. Kageichi Akiya was responsible for character design, while Taisei Iwasaki (“Blood Blockade Battlefront”) composed the music.

The two-hour film had its world premiere on July 15, 2021 at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, where it received a 14-minute standing ovation. In this country, the strip was already on December 7, 2021 in the course of a Advance Premiere shown in the cinema in the original language with subtitles.

»BELLE« represents Mamoru Hosoda’s latest work and tells a story in an »evolving online world«. The Japanese theatrical release was on July 16, 2021.

Plot:

17-year-old high school student Suzu lives with her father in a rural town in Kochi Prefecture. Her mother died in an accident when she was very young. This leaves her with a deep scar in her heart. One day she comes across “U”, a virtual world in “Another Reality”, and participates there as an avatar named “Belle”. She sings a song that was on her heart and quickly becomes the center of attention. But then a mysterious being appears in the form of a dragon, which is feared in the world of »U«.
