The Eastern European news portal “Nexta” shows on Twitter a recording of Olaf Scholz’s reaction to the protests by Putin fans during a live performance. The German chancellor was repeatedly interrupted in his speech by a roaring group at a European party organized by the SPD in Falkensee near Berlin last Friday. The disruptors in the audience shouted, among other things, “Warmongers”, “Create peace without weapons”, “Get lost!” and «We are the people!».
Scholz interrupted his speech and countered: “Dear screamers, while you’re shouting ‘make peace without weapons’, Putin has collected an incredible number of tanks, rockets, cruise missiles – and aimed them at Ukraine. It destroys cities, it destroys villages, it destroys railway lines and highways. And he killed an unbelievable number of citizens, children and the elderly in Ukraine. That’s murder, to put it bluntly.
Scholz continued: “The warmonger is Putin. He invaded Ukraine with 200,000 soldiers. He mobilized many more. He risked the lives of his own citizens for an imperialist dream. Putin wants to destroy and conquer Ukraine – and he has others in mind. As freedom friends, as democrats, as Europeans, we will not allow that.” The reaction of the German chancellor was accompanied by applause, further heckling and taunting followed from the ranks of the troublemakers.
Scholz ends the speech with the words: “And democracy also shows that there are screamers, but we can talk louder. Nice day.”
