German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believes that the European Union should not be afraid of Russia following the “show of force” at the Victory Parade in Moscow. This is how he reacted to the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“2,200 kilometers northeast of here, Putin is holding a parade with soldiers, tanks and missiles. We should not be intimidated by such a show of force. We must remain true to our support for Ukraine for as long as necessary,” Mr. Scholz said in the European Parliament (his speech is published on site German government).
According to the German chancellor, the message of May 9 should not be what they are talking regarding in Moscow. According to Mr. Scholz, the message to the EU should be that “the past cannot triumph over the future.”
Vladimir Putin at the Victory Parade on Red Square said that a war had been unleashed once morest Russia. In his opinion, “neo-Nazi evil spirits” were directed once morest the country. He also said that the future of the Russian people depends on the participants in the military operation in Ukraine. The parade was attended by the leaders of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
