German authorities allow €5.6 billion worth of arms exports in first half of year

The agency stated that it had concluded this from the German Ministry of Economy’s response to a request in this regard from Bundestag member Sevim Dagdelen (the “Sarah Wagenknecht Union – for Rationality and Justice” – BSW) group.

“Shortly before the regional elections in East Germany (scheduled for September in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia), the federal government is once again demonstrating its deadly political priorities by allowing the export of a record-breaking amount of weapons,” the agency quoted the parliamentarian as saying.

According to her, the German authorities are sending generous gifts to the Kiev regime in the form of large shipments of weapons, instead of investing in education, infrastructure and healthcare.

Germany is the second largest donor of aid to Ukraine after the United States.

But Reuters reported last July that the German budget for 2025 allocated half of the funds allocated in 2024 for military support to Ukraine.

Last May, German Chancellor Scholz said that his country had reached the limit of its capacity to provide military aid to Ukraine, stressing, however, that Berlin had no intention of stopping this support.

NTV quoted Scholz as saying that German military aid to Ukraine amounted to 28 billion euros and that the 2024 budget calls for allocating more than 7 billion additional euros for this support.
