The President of EOT addressed the interactive presentation of the artistic program of the 53rd Olympus Festival in ancient Dion, as well as the opening of the Olympus Marathon mountain running race, which took place on the same dates with the participation of athletes from all over the world.
Also, Ms. Gerekou participated in a guided tour and wine tasting in the organic vineyards of the Kourtis estate as well as a meal of monastic cuisine at the Holy Monastery of Agios Athanasios Kolindros, while she had the opportunity to take an impressive hot air balloon flight from Ancient Dion to Svoronos in Pieria for the promotion of viable and sustainable forms of tourism in the region.
Concluding her visit, the President of the EOT recalled in her statements the recent meeting of the Subcommittee on Mountainous Areas of the Special Standing Committee of Regions on the issue of highlighting and developing mountainous areas, through the example of Olympus, pointing out: “The promotion of Olympus and the wider Paralympic area is a strategic goal for the EOT, the Ministry of Tourism and the entire country”.
Ms. Gerekou’s trip to Pieria took place on the occasion of a press trip for Greek media representatives, which aimed to highlight and promote alternative forms of tourism in Olympus and the wider region.
