The best winemaker in the world who is rampant in Languedoc? This is a hypothesis that would have amused Burgundians and Bordeaux residents 40 years ago, when wines from the South of France were highly despised by the profession. Often rightly so, with their lack of demands and the large quantities given to cooperatives to mill piquette. But the region was able to carry out an unexpected transformation for a change of image which it owes in large part to Gérard Bertrand, native of Narbonne, and therefore consecrated planetary hero in 2023 by the British magazine The Drinks Business.
