Georgiadis v. PIS: Doctors disobeyed and administered normal drugs to patients
 – 2024-07-28 08:03:58

The “front” opened by the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis with the private doctors continues and in fact he is now turning against the Panhellenic Medical Association, which asked its members not to use the electronic prescription system and to give only handwritten prescriptions until Monday, when the controversial provision is expected to be voted on in the Parliament.

The required private doctors were found
The Minister of Health in his post on X notes that the required private doctors were found to cover the needs in the hospitals, even in Kos where he was facing a problem.

With indirect shots against the PIS, he essentially noted that the private doctors did not obey his instructions, as the move to electronic prescribing based on the data he gathered from the IDIKA, shows a smooth activity.

Dissatisfaction of Georgiadis for PIS
According to authoritative information from ethnos.gr, the Minister of Health is said to be dissatisfied with the Administration of the PIS and the President Athanasios Exadaktilo, as it seems that he initiated the mobilizations which will culminate on Monday in the Parliament when all the presidents of the Medical Associations will hold a meeting in order to to express their protests against Adonis Georgiadis’ order.

It should be recalled that the provision promoted by the Minister of Health is included in the psychiatric reform bill and foresees penalties for private doctors who will not accept to work in the National Health Service in barren areas.

It describes their expulsion from the EOPYY but also their exclusion from the electronic prescription system. It is noteworthy, however, that Adonis Georgiadis, taking a step back, notes that he will not activate the provision, which he will not withdraw.

But it will not issue a joint ministerial decision (KYA) to implement it. Based on his argument, since private doctors have now been found to fill the gaps in all problem areas, there is no reason to activate the provision.
