Georges-Louis Bouchez has made his political comeback. And as usual, he did not have his tongue in his pocket and did not avoid angry subjects. Invited by Maxime Binet in “Coffee without filter”, the liberal was first questioned regarding Elio Di Rupo’s desire to regularize undocumented migrants capable of exercising trades in shortage. “The treatment of employment by the left is mind-boggling”, resumes GLB. “They refuse to employ Walloon job seekers who number nearly 200,000. But on the other side, since they don’t want to go to work, we are going to regularize people from abroad. I have no problem with economic migration. But you have to go in order.”
Georges-Louis Bouchez presents the book that moved him the most: “It all started with an encounter that marked me forever”
According to him, it would be necessary to sanction the unemployed who refuse a job in a trade in shortage. And this, despite the contrary opinion of the unions. “If the unions advocated work, it would be known. Today, the new trade union business is unemployment.” GLB persists and signs: we must push the unemployed to work in trades in shortage. To illustrate his point, the politician MR chose to respond with irony. “Lifetime unemployment is such a good idea that no country in the world has copied us,” he explains. “Nobody wants to be like us and we have to rethink our system. The crux of the problem in our country is the mentality. And the system has perverted this way of conceiving our relationship to work.”
Another problem mentioned: insecurity at the Gare du Midi. Once once more, Georges-Louis Bouchez points to the PS as responsible. Even if, according to him, the wrongs are shared. “The speech of some elected officials bothers me. Local authorities should take their responsibilities. For example, they might issue orders to remove individuals from certain areas. The responsibilities are also regional from a political point of view. Some actions that are carried out, such as shooting rooms which are vacuum cleaners for drug addicts, do not work. On September 12, Rudi Vervoort, the Brussels Minister-President, will have to explain himself regarding the problems encountered at the Gare du Midi. “It’s much too late”, slice GLB. “We expect Rudi Vervoort and Elke Van Den Brandt, the Minister for Mobility, to explain themselves in committee this week. Small Midi stations, there are several in Brussels! Above all, we would like an action plan quickly with a request from the prosecution. The problem is that as soon as you arrest someone, you release them.”
