Remember. Last April, Georges-Louis Bouchez announced his intention to become a reserve officer in the Belgian army. “I signed my commitment. This is a thought I had following the invasion of Ukraine: if that happened to us, what would our capacity be to defend our country?” the liberal said at the time.

Georges-Louis Bouchez becomes a reserve officer in the Belgian army: “A thought I had following the invasion in Ukraine”

Except that a few months later, we learned that Georges-Louis Bouchez had not yet started training. This is what Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder revealed this Thursday on BX1. “It’s not done. I’m still waiting for it. He said he was interested but he has already postponed his training, his military initiation phase. Obviously, you still have to train a little bit, you don’t become a soldier like that,” declared Ludivine Dedonder.

Who concludes: “He passed a few tests which were successful. He is still a candidate, but he has not followed his training”.
