From the end of the summer, it will be compulsory to charge your electric vehicle in a parking space equipped with a charging station. Drivers will be allowed to park there while they recharge their batteries, but no longer. The environmental minister thus hopes to ensure a rotation at the charging stations.

No more free parking

Local authorities will be able to sanction drivers who park in a space equipped with a charging station but whose vehicle is not charged. In Antwerp, for example, there is already a “rotation fee” amounting to 0.01 euro per minute for anyone who remains parked at a public charging station when their battery has already been charged for a long time. In Bruges, on the other hand, parking at a public charging station is allowed for a maximum duration of two to four hours.
