The pioneers of social networking sites circulated a video clip of Sheikh Yasser Al-Saleh reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an in the condolences of the son of the Syrian singer George Wassouf in his hometown of Kafroun in Syria.
According to what was circulated, the recitation of the verses came at a direct request from the Sultan of Tarab, George Wassouf.
In his statement, Sheikh Yasser Al-Saleh said, “It is not the first time that he has been asked to do so, as he was previously asked to recite Surat Maryam in the condolence of his mother previously.”
Al-Saleh pointed out that the artist, George Wassouf, “memorizes from the Book of God, and when I read Surat Maryam to him on one of the previous visits, he used to repeat it with me.”
The Syrian artist, George Wassouf, announced earlier the death of his son, Wadih, on his official page on Twitter, which left widespread grief among his followers.
Extensive interaction on social media
Reading the Qur’an at the funeral of Abu Wadih’s son sparked a wide interaction on social media.
Many talked regarding coexistence following the appearance of the sheikh and a priest beside him who chanted hymns, in a message from them regarding national unity, and that there is always tolerance and love between the heavenly religions.
Others questioned George Wassouf’s religion, following circulating a clip from a previous interview with the Lebanese journalist Nishan.
At the time, Abu Wadih said: “I am not a Christian and I perform the call to prayer in my house.”
While tweeters criticized everyone who asked regarding the religion of singer George Wassouf.
Sahar Nasser said: “Disgusting and disgusting is the person who comments on people’s sorrows, misfortune, tragedy, and oppression while they are screaming and taunting them that he is from another religion. You have no religion if you are not merciful and your heart does not shed tears at the scene of the death of a son being buried by his father and mother.”
Funeral rites
A controversy arose between tweeters regarding the method of carrying the casket and the funeral rituals of the Christians of Lebanon. Some criticized it, others defended it.
Alwa Muhammad said: “The funeral has its majesty and respect in all countries of the world except for the Christians of Lebanon. The funeral of Sabah, and following that the funeral of George Al-Rassi, and now the funeral of George’s son, Wassouf. I do not know how they dance in the coffin to the music?”
But the response came from Rosa, who said: “They denounced the funeral rituals of George Wassouf’s son and praised our Lord for the blessing of Islam, and they originally do not understand why they did that… Today, Abu Wadih asked a sheikh to read a Qur’an at the funeral. They did not like that either, and they cursed the sheikh who read.” “.
Last Saturday, George Wassouf received the condolences of his eldest son, Wadih, and a large number of stars were keen to attend his condolences, including Haifa Wehbe, Najwa Karam, Nancy Ajram, Abed Fahd, Nassif Zeitoun, the media Nishan and other stars.
The Lebanese actress, Haifa Wehbe, said: “The news is heartbreaking, Wadih George Wassouf, for your soul, peace, may God give patience to your heart, Abu Wadih. The pain is great and separation is difficult.”
For his part, the Syrian actor, Abed Fahd, commented: “It is sad news. God does not grieve anyone with his children. May God give you patience and strength, Abu Wadih, so that his memory will be eternal.”
