George Clooney is not only one of Hollywood’s most famous movie stars.
He is also a big supporter of the Democrats in the United States, and has donated a lot of money to the party’s election campaigns.
Now Clooney has chosen to get involved in the heated debate regarding whether Joe Biden should remain as presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
In a debate article in the New York Times, the movie star calls for Joe Biden to drop out.
“Is a lifelong Democrat”
Clooney emphasizes that he feels very strongly regarding the Democratic Party.
– I am a lifelong democrat; I don’t apologize for that. I am proud of what my party represents and what it stands for, George Clooney explains in the debate post.
He also points out that he has had a leading role in some of the biggest fundraisers for Democratic candidates – Barack Obama in 2012, Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.
As recently as last month, he helped organize an event in support of Biden.
– I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As vice president and as president, Clooney emphasizes, adding that Biden has won many battles.
But there is a battle that Biden cannot win, he believes.
– The only battle he cannot win is the battle once morest time. None of us can, writes George Clooney.
“Not the same Biden”
Clooney believes that Biden is no longer the same as he was a few years ago – age has taken its toll.
Clooney himself has noted that when he has met Biden recently.
– It’s terrible to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with at a fundraising gala three weeks ago was not the 2010 Joe “Big F-ing Deal” Biden. He wasn’t even 2020’s Joe Biden. He was the same as we saw in the debate, says Clooney.
The latter refers to Biden’s fiasco-like televised debate once morest Donald Trump at the end of June.
“Pray for a miracle”
George Clooney therefore believes that it is high time for Biden to drop out of the presidential election and leave room for another candidate.
– We can bury our heads in the sand and pray for a miracle in November, or we can tell the truth, writes George Clooney.
