George Baldock: Twist in the case

The case is taking a new turn according to the information that has come to light, regarding the death of Panathinaikos and the Greek national team player, George Baldock, who died in the swimming pool of his apartment in Glyfada on Wednesday night (09/ 10).

Flip with the contents of the bottle

According to the STAR report, specifically by Vangelis Goumas, the bottle found near the pool where Baldock died and initially thought to be a bottle of vodka, was actually hand sanitizer.

Furthermore, according to information from Panagiotis Boussios, there are still 2-3 formal depositions left to officially close the case file. Even the police from the first moment had ruled out the possibility of homicide or criminal activity, a fact that was also confirmed by the forensic examination.

He had been alone in the apartment since noon

The authorities are also examining footage from the cameras of the building where the footballer’s apartment was located, as well as from the street, to ensure that no one else was with him. From the image so far, there does not seem to be a second person in the area, since it seems that there was no one else with him since early afternoon.

Finally, the mobile phone of the unfortunate footballer will go to the forensic laboratories.

When are toxicology tests expected?

In two to three weeks, the result of the toxicological tests of George Baldock, who was found dead on the evening of October 9, in the swimming pool of his home, in Glyfada, “plunging” into unspeakable mourning throughout the European sports community, is expected.

When the officers turned over the lifeless body of George Baldock, he bubbled water from his mouth, which indicated he had drowned. This was also confirmed by the autopsy that took place yesterday at noon.

The medical examiner who undertook the examination, Stavroula Papadodima, stated that “the autopsy was carried out yesterday, a final cause of death was given and samples have been taken for toxicological, histological and genetic tests to further investigate underlying conditions”, speaking to OPEN.

The body of the unfortunate footballer was in the pool for so long (five hours, according to information), that it had reached the bottom. In fact, a police officer had to dive into the pool to retrieve his body.

The question that arises is how did a man who knew how to swim and could not get out of the pool drown? This means that there was probably something before that.

What will answer the question is the histological examination of the organs, mainly of the heart – as the scenario that he suffered a cardiac arrest has not been excluded – and of course the toxicology, which will show if something he may have consumed caused a reaction.

Additionally, police authorities are investigating whether he was already in the water when he passed out, or whether he was out of the water, passed out and then fell into the pool.
