While registration for the beta of miHoYo’s new title Honkai: Star Rail has just opened, the perfectly tuned machinery of the Chinese studio, and more particularly the updates of its hit game Genshin Impactare disturbed.
Until now, the management was yet millimeter, with updates that came out precisely every six weeks. If, for some, these updates were too fast and too frequent, a large majority of players were still grateful and delighted to be able to benefit from new content on a regular basis. Alas, a rumor had been circulating for a few days, according to which version 2.7 would be postponed, and it was the official Twitter account that came to formalize this news.
Update 2.7 is therefore postponed to a later date without further details, and that’s not too bad, because we can legitimately assume that the health crisis is behind this postponement. Not announcing a release date thus makes it possible to return to a more calm communication, once morest the current of the “crunch” trend. Indeed, the main branch of the studio, located in Shanghai, is currently facing very strict confinements and a worrying health situation. This therefore disrupts the production of the team, in particular because of the working conditions, but also (and above all) the health of the employees.
Many people on social media have testified that they prefer the teams to take care of themselves, and stay focused on being well, rather than trying to release new content for the game. Some even , insist that miHoYo does not need to offer in-game compensation, which is always provided when there is a problem.
This update, initially scheduled for May 10, was to introduce two new characters, presented at the end of March last on the Twitter account, including a five-star Hydro named Yelan, as well as a four-star Electro, Kuki Shinobu. No one doubts that miHoYo wants this postponement to be as short as possible, given that the current banner expires next week, unless they decide to add a few more weeks to it?
The character banners in particular allow the studio to earn a lot of income, as does the new battle pass which will also be renewed with the arrival of the future update. If the studio’s main concern is, for now, the well-being of its employees, it is obvious that miHoYo has certainly thought regarding minimizing the impact on revenue.
