Genocide victims were commemorated at the command of civil defense troops

An event was held in the command of the Civil Defense Forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) on the occasion of the Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis with the participation of personnel.

It was reported that at the event, the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, our martyrs and genocide victims who died for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and freedom of our lands were commemorated with a minute’s silence, and the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played.

Speakers at the event said that thousands of our innocent compatriots were killed as a result of the mass ethnic cleansing and deportation policy carried out by the Bolshevik-Armenian armed groups in Azerbaijan at the beginning of the last century. From March 30 to April 3, 1918, the genocide of Azerbaijanis was carried out with special cruelty in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba districts, Karabakh, Zangezur, Nakhchivan, Lankaran and other regions of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that in these areas, the Bolshevik-Armenian armed forces massacred civilians, villages were burned, national cultural monuments were destroyed, and thousands of our compatriots were killed because of their ethnic and religious affiliation. The genocide of March 31, 1918 has been written down in history as one of the bloodiest terrorist acts committed by Armenians against our people.

The work of re-examining the genocide committed by the Armenians against our people and spreading the truth to the world started with the initiative of the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, and on March 26, 1998, with the Decree “On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis” signed by the great leader and of great historical importance, March 31 is the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis. was announced. After that, important works were done in the direction of studying that history, many works were written and translated into foreign languages. On January 18, 2018, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree “On the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Genocide of Azerbaijanis” in order to more fully convey to the country and the world community the truth about the crimes committed against Azerbaijanis by the Armenian-Bolshevik armed groups a century ago. respectively, relevant events were held both in the country and abroad.

In the end, it was emphasized that under the wise leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our brave Army took revenge from the Armenian terrorists who were thirsty for the lives and blood of Azerbaijanis. Our lands, which were under occupation for nearly 30 years, were liberated in just 44 days. With that, the whole world saw the power of Azerbaijan’s iron fist.
