Gennuso said that the implementation of the new system had as its starting point an agreement signed last July with the Minister of Transportation of the Nation Diego Giuliano. “It cost a lot, it stretched more than we wanted“, he pointed.
The Undersecretary of Transit and Transportation, Daniel Pincheira, said that the application works with the GPS of the SUBE machines installed in each unit for fare collection and that is why an agreement was needed with the firm Nación Servicios, which manages that system. The private operator will be Ualabee.
With just two weeks left to leave office, Gennuso wants to leave the transportation application in operation while also evaluating the increase in the fare requested by Mi Bus. The new rate would be enabled by resolution in the coming days. The concessionaire considers that the current 158 peso ticket was outdated and wants to take it to 319 pesos.
Pincheira said that the change that the new application will represent will be an important technological leap, because it will allow knowing the distance and time until the bus arrives at the point where the user is. “All of us who use urban transportation are going to enjoy it.“, he claimed.
He pointed out that they are in the middle of the adjustment and testing stage and that one of the details to take into account is that the transportation concessionaire company identifies exactly which unit performs each route and that it reports any changes because “otherwise it gets complicated” and the user will receive inaccurate data.
He pointed out that the operating cost is not high and will be deducted by the municipality from the subsidy that the company receives. Regarding the change in the rate, Pincheira said that it is in full analysis and “it is appropriate” that Gennuso formalizes it before leaving office, because “it is a review that is already several months behind schedule.”

The mayor also referred to the works that the municipality has underway and that he hopes to complete before transferring command to his replacement, Walter Cortés.
