The watches were presented as “Swiss made”, although they were made in Asia. The former administrator of a watch brand, who has a shop in the city center, was sanctioned by the courts last May, says this Saturday the “Geneva Grandstand“. Alerted to these misleading practices, the Federation of the Watch Industry filed a complaint in 2019. The former owner of the brand, who has since sold his business, was fined 120 day-fines to 110 francs suspended for falsification of merchandise by trade and use of inaccurate indication of source.

The man claims to have “never wanted to scam anyone” and says he is a “victim” of a “business war” between competitors. Moreover, according to him, his Asian supplier should have used movements made in Switzerland, but would have been deceived regarding their provenance. According to the Geneva daily, several luxury brands in the country considered themselves copied and attacked the brand. Agreements would have been found. As for the new owners of the shop, they claim to be in good standing and sell their watches without hiding their Asian origin.
