Geneva: Vast European operation once morest human trafficking
More than 250 people were arrested during a raid by police from around thirty countries, including Switzerland. Geneva is the only French-speaking canton to have taken part.
Thousands of police officers took part in a Europol operation at the end of October to fight once morest labor exploitation and trafficking in human beings, in the domestic economy or in prostitution circles. Among the 34 countries that took part in this coordinated action: Switzerland. Geneva was the only French-speaking canton involved. Vaud, for example, might not do so “for organizational reasons; but we have a brigade dedicated to this problem all year round”, indicated the cantonal police to “Matin Dimanche”.
The European operation led to the arrest of 254 suspects (including one in Geneva) and the identification of 910 potential victims, including cases of sexual exploitation of minors in England and Croatia. The police acted at the borders, in stations, brothels and massage parlours, but also in hospitals and in reception centers for migrants.
