School before the age of 3 will remain possible in private
The Grand Council passed a law on Friday confirming the current practice: it will suffice for a child to be in his 3rd year to join a private establishment.

Private schools prevailed. Children who are 3 years old on December 31 will be able to continue to be educated there at the start of the school year, that is to say at a little over two and a half years old. The Grand Council passed a law on Friday confirming the practice that had been in place until now. This decision puts an end to a conflict between the Geneva Association of Private Schools (AGEP) and the Department of Public Instruction. He wanted the toddlers to be 3 years old by July 31 to be allowed to start school. The AGEP estimated that if this regulation came into force, hundreds of children would have had to be placed back in crèches, while a chronic shortage of places is rife in Geneva.
