A Geneva prosecutor on Tuesday demanded a three-year prison sentence, including 18 months firm, once morest the Swiss Islamologist Tariq Ramadan, for rape in a case which dates back to 2008 and which he disputes.
“It will be appropriate to set a custodial sentence of 3 years, 18 months firm, 18 suspended,” said the First Prosecutor Adrian Holloway, addressing the three judges of the Geneva Criminal Court. “He acted to satisfy his sexual desire for a woman he used as an object. He did not hesitate to make this nightmare last for several hours”.
