Geneva Motor Show: again canceled for 2023

Since 2020, the Geneva Motor Show has not taken place. An event that Europeans miss because this show was an important meeting for manufacturers of exclusive, sports and luxury cars as well as preparers. A concentration of exceptional vehicles was in Geneva which allowed enthusiasts to dream, sometimes coming from very far away to attend the event. But now we learn that the Geneva show of 2023 will not take place. Explanations on Abcacteur.

Due to “uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics”

The organization through the voice of the Salon’s Standing Committee has announced that the Geneva event will be held in Doha, Qatar. Paradoxical? A bit like when the Tour de France starts from Denmark, but in the case of the Geneva Motor Show this means that the show initially planned in Switzerland is canceled for 2023.

It is therefore a fourth year without the Geneva Motor Show this winter because the event announced last April for dates from February 14 to 19 has been cancelled. due to uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as risks related to the development of the pandemic, the organizers have decided to focus exclusively on planning the event in Doha in 2023”. The Swiss prefer not to take any risks related to Covid-19.

Doha as a new place of organization?

For this 2023 edition, the GIMS (Geneva International Motor Show) will take place in Doha, Qatar. The name of the event is not changing for the moment, so we find ourselves in a situation similar to the Dakar which no longer passes through Dakar or even through Africa. The Show may be postponed to November 2023 and should take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. A question arises, will the event taking place in a Gulf country be as successful?
