Migros has not sold Geneva milk for a month. This decision to withdraw the product stamped with the GRTA (Geneva Region – Terre Avenir) label angers agricultural circles as well as the Council of State. As reported by the “Geneva Grandstand“, he wrote to the orange giant to tell him of his incomprehension.

Price difference

Migros now only sells milk bearing the IP-Suisse label. She considers that it has the advantage of being known by customers and recalls that it promotes production that respects biodiversity and the well-being of the animal. The director of Agri Genève thinks for his part that it is above all an economic decision, since GRTA milk is paid 1 franc per liter to producers, once morest only 80 cents for IP Switzerland. He also confides to the Geneva daily that if the environmental aspect is “perhaps more advanced at IP Switzerland”, GRTA milks are local products that do not travel long distances.

Discussions are now underway to put GRTA milk back on Migros shelves that meets the criteria for the IP Suisse label.
