More than 150,000 visitors came to Palexpo for the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) 2024. Despite the absence of many manufacturers, the 91st edition of the Auto Show was sold out on Friday and Saturday. Those attending the event seem torn between joy and disappointment.
The GIMS did not stall for its restart. Staying far from the attendance records, the crowds were there for this return of the auto show to Geneva, five years later. “Half fig, half grape”, this is how car enthusiasts summarize this GIMS 2024.
Not always excited by the new products and the majority of electric cars, visitors remain happy to once once more set foot in the halls of Palexpo, dotted with new cars and unique exhibitions.
The manufacturers present made the “right choice”
On the manufacturers’ side, we underline the importance of the Geneva show and we remain convinced of having made the right choice by marking their presence at this edition. In this lighter and more electric version, the magic of the Geneva Auto Show still works on new visitors, as several visitors testify. “It’s less classic and more original,” analyzes Xavier at the end of his first Geneva Auto Show.
The organizers speak of a “successful bet”, despite the set objective of 200,000 visitors not being achieved. GIMS will return to Palexpo next year from February 17 to 23, with more immersive experiences and with good hopes of attracting more builders.
