(Keystone-ATS) Around ten shots were fired Sunday morning around 4:00 a.m. against the window of a café on rue des Pâquis, in Geneva. A 19-year-old suspect was arrested.

Confirming information 20 minutes ago, the Geneva police specified that the establishment was closed and that no one was inside. “There is only material damage,” said Aline Dard, spokesperson for the police. The individual(s) had left the scene when police arrived.

The first acts of investigation made it possible to find the weapon near the scene, abandoned in a garbage container, indicates the Public Prosecutor’s Office in a press release. The weapon, a submachine gun, had previously been stolen from a police vehicle. The circumstances of this theft are the subject of an investigation by the General Inspectorate of Services, under the direction of the Attorney General.
