The General Authority for Sports has announced the launch of the Emirates Awards for Community Sports Activities, which aims to encourage all members of society to engage in sports and physical activities and to incentivize sports bodies, government agencies and the private sector to provide sports facilities and sports activities.
The award also aims to support the organization and delivery of community sporting events, which help provide opportunities for all segments of society to participate in all sports and physical activities to enhance quality of life and enhance physical and mental health.
The launch of this award is in line with the Authority’s strategy to spread sports culture to all walks of life and encourage everyone to participate in sports regularly. From this perspective, the launch of the award falls under the Authority’s transformation project “UAE is a Destination for Sports Events”, which aims to raise awareness among various members of society on the importance of sports, which helps instill and consolidate the right concept.
The award is open to individuals and institutions in a set of categories and includes three categories: Promising young athletes in community sports who demonstrate outstanding athletic ability and are expected to have an outstanding future in their field. A role model for people and an outstanding athlete who achieved success in community sports and made a significant contribution to empowering and enhancing the role of women in the sporting community. People who actively contribute to promoting sports in the community.
At the institutional level, there are two categories: the best community sports initiatives, dedicated to sports federations that have a positive impact on society; and the best media for disseminating community sports culture, media most passionate regarding disseminating community sports culture. sports culture and consolidate its importance among members of society.
A jury composed of experts in the field of sport and institutional excellence will screen the entrants and select the winners based on specific published criteria.
